• I have a website, can you take it over?

As a web designer, I am quite the perfectionist and if something doesn’t look right, it can haunt me. I’ve been known to awaken at night and make a change to a graphical image or adjust a sidebar simply because it detracts from the aesthetics of a site; I can only sleep when it’s deemed good enough.

Each website I put together gets a lot of thought and consideration. I wouldn’t have it any other way and I’m keen to give it something extra to make it “stand out from the crowd.” On Friday evening (9^th March 2012) at precisely 8pm, I was pleased to launch www.jonathanhoare.com

The first thing that greets you on this clear and informative site is the superb photography. The pictures of enthusiastic cadets, intrepid sailors and stunning action shots are worth perusing through on their own! Add to that the creative, well-written blog and you get a great personal touch – from the experienced photographer, blogger and writer Jonathan Hoare.

I’ve known Jonathan and his wife Frances for many years and their dedication to this new online project is clear to see. I say “new online project” but they are in no way “new” to this photography game. Sit for an hour or two with them and their excitement for imagery and writing is contagious. They are clearly dedicated to their business and provide a high quality, personal touch.

The thought process behind the website itself was to put together an online portfolio with stunning examples of their work; something that immediately hits you when visiting the home page. It was important for me to make sure the site was well designed and easy to use so that Jonathan can make sure it’s full of great content.

When end-users are surfing the internet, looking for an event they’ve attended, often they get frustrated with trying to find what they want. Not so with Jonathan’s site; after many weeks of searching for a professional host that would take care of the display, layout and shopping cart, it was agreed that currently there is no finer option than SmugMug. The design and arrangement of thumbnails and large-screen preview is just what my client was looking for, therefore, it was decided all round that SmugMug would be chosen – plot yourself a course to the Gallery and you’ll see just how easy it is to use!

With nearly 30 years experience in writing articles for many magazines, Jonathan is passionate about photography, penning many articles about sailing dinghies, motorcycles, classic cars, and even collectable airguns! As the weeks and months go by, I’m certainly looking forward to watching this website progress, grow in the amount of events they present to us and no doubt, feature many great editorials on photography via the online blog, which is already a treasure chest full of great information and insights. Most importantly, the website isn’t and won’t be static. There is nothing worse than pulling up a website from your favourites menu, only to leave disappointed by the fact it’s exactly the same as it was last time you looked at it, several weeks previous…or you see those dreaded words, “site last updated 26th February 2009”

Basically, we’ll sit down with you and go through exactly what you need, the design, the layout and the content. The design fee is £595 and from the day the website goes LIVE, there is no longer any contract between us regarding updates, as these are optional. What this means is no monthly payments to us and it won’t cost you a penny to keep your website on-line for the next 12 months. Every 12 months, there will be a small domain name and hosting fee of approximately £35.00.

If you would like your website updated with current or new information, we can arrange this with you for a small hourly fee.

Bronze Website Package:

The bronze website option is a basic business website consisting of up to 3 pages.

The advantage of the bronze package is that small businesses requiring an on-line presence can do so for the relatively small fee of £195 (design work) and then a £25 pcm contract which includes 1 hour of website updates per month. You can then sit back while your site is kept up to date without having to worry.

Email or telephone through your updates either on or just before the start of the new month and your changes will be made for you. A good start-up package giving you peace of mind.

Silver Website Package:

The silver website is a larger package but this gives the medium size business a whole lot more.

As the client, you can relax and have us at Fresh Start look after your site with up to 3hrs of website updates per month…with the luxury of having website access yourself. If needed, you can quickly login and alter/add some text, images or prices at your own convenience or perhaps update a blog?

Once again, a relatively small design fee of £395 (design work) and then £50 pcm gives the customer peace of mind with a professional looking business website that is looked after while you work.

Gold Pro Website Package:

The Gold Pro package really is our top offer; ideal for sports or magazine/newspaper based websites, this option gives you LIVE updates has they happen.

As an example, your website pages can be updated LIVE (without the page being refreshed) with such things as a LIVE sporting event score or LIVE text updates for your supporters/followers. ECommerce is included within this package at no extra fee giving you the option of an online shop.
